Green Product Solutions
An analysis of greenhouse gas emissions for the entire Sharp value chain identified that more than 80% of emissions are associated with the use of sold products. It is precisely because Sharp makes products that consume electricity that we have a responsibility to reduce the environmental impact resulting from this electricity use.
Sustainable Product Design
We are committed to sustainable product design, continually innovating to bring to market products and solutions with significantly improved energy efficiency and energy saving functionality, whereby assisting our customers in both reducing their carbon footprint and their energy costs.
Projectors
The trend is moving away from lamp-based projectors to benefit from energy-efficient laser technology which is virtually maintenance free and requires no replacement lamps over its long lifecycle, minimizing waste and reducing costs.
New projector ranges are designed to utilize the same lenses and mounting infrastructure of legacy ranges helping to reduce waste when upgrading performance levels. Continuous product innovation is bringing to market new projectors which consume 10% less energy than their predecessors.

Timer function and software scheduling power down the projector when not in use. - Stand-by Mode
Projectors consume less then 0.5W in stand-by power mode. - Hard Power Down
Ensures zero-watt consumption when not in use. - Carbon meter
Tangible measurement of the carbon footprint to report carbon savings. - Remote Power Management
Software based solution to remotely monitor and manage product settings related to power consumption.
Desktop Displays
Our desktop displays are designed for maximum user comfort and wellbeing with full ergonomic adjustability. Low blue light technology filters out hazardous blue light emissions and flicker-free technology eliminates any backlight flickering, thus protecting the users’ eyes against cataracts and macular degeneration.
Energy saving features include
- ECO Modes
Selectable setting in on-screen menu to optimize power consumption by lowering product brightness level. - LED backlight
Reduced power demand. - Ambient Light Sensor
Automatically adjusts the optimal brightness according to the ambient light conditions. - Human Sensor
Automatically powers-up the display when a user is present and powers-down when the user moves away. Businesses can save over 30% of their CO2 consumption by using this feature. - Carbon meter
Tangible measurement of the carbon footprint to report carbon savings. - Remote Power Management
Software based solution to remotely monitor and manage product settings related to power consumption.
Large Format Displays
Sharp and NEC displays are preset to energy saving modes at the factory, extending the life of the display and ensuring energy savings for the user who rarely adjust the factory settings.
Sharp’s innovative open modular design allows computing power to be upgraded, signage isn’t disposed of but repurposed or reconfigured extending the life of the display. Integrated computing devices use power more efficiently and don’t require additional mounting systems, cabling or power supplies which could ultimately become waste.
Our Large Format Displays feature a metal chassis which is infinitely recyclable, contributing to the circular economy. NEC Large Format Displays are 97.4% recyclable which is remarkable in the industry.
Energy saving features include
- ECO Modes
Selectable setting in on-screen menu to optimize power consumption by lowering product brightness level. - LED backlight
Reduced power demand. - Ambient Light Sensor
Automatically adjusts the optimal brightness according to the ambient light conditions. - Human Sensor
Detects when someone is in front of the display triggering the backlight to increase from low to high level for better readability of content. Any NEC LFD can be upgraded to offer this functionality. - Carbon meter
Tangible measurement of the display’s carbon footprint to report carbon savings. - Scheduling
Selectable setting in on-screen menu to plan operation times. - Auto Standby Mode
The display only switches on when a source is connected. - Remote Power Management
Software based solution to remotely monitor and manage product settings related to power consumption.
Interactive Displays
Sharp interactive displays are preset to energy saving modes at the factory, extending the life of the display and ensuring energy savings for the user who rarely adjust the factory settings.

LED Solutions
For large image surfaces, LED offers many advantages in terms of scalability and flexibility, and with an impressively long lifecycle, it is also emerging as a preferred choice for sustainability.
We are innovating to improve the energy efficiency and overall sustainability of our LED solutions. New Flip-Chip Chip on Board (COB) technology, for instance, delivers extreme contrast, high durability, and low energy use - up to 40% less power. Our third generation Flip-Chip LED FE Series boasts a remarkable 60% reduction in energy use compared to its predecessor.
LED is highly serviceable with components that can be repaired and replaced. Sharp offers a comprehensive tailored LED service program to support its extraordinarily long lifetime of over 10 years. We stock spare parts beyond the legal requirement to support our repair programs.
Metal is the major component in our LED products which is infinitely recyclable, contributing to the circular economy.
Energy saving features include
- Power down
LED technology is mature enough to be shut down when not in use to minimize energy use. We recommend use of a switch-on controller to mitigate power spikes at start up. - Flip-Chip SMD
New Flip-Chip Chip on Board (COB) technology uses up to 40% less power compared to traditional SMD technology. - Content Management
Operating without content reduces the energy draw during down time. A black background instead of a bright background reduces power consumption by 50%. - Remote Power Management
Software based solution to remotely monitor and manage product settings related to power consumption.
Cinema Projectors
Many cinemas are already benefiting from laser projection technology which is far more energy efficient compared to traditional Xenon lamp-based technology. It also generates less heat, therefore does not require external cooling or ventilation systems, thus further reducing energy consumption.
Our digital cinema projectors are shipped in sustainable packaging via sea and land to minimize carbon emissions.
Sustainable features include
- Laser Light Source
Long life, energy-efficient, and virtually maintenance free requiring no replacement lamp nor filter. - Modularity
The ML Series features a modular light system whereby the light module can be exchanged or upgraded as requirements change without having to replace the projector. - Energy efficiency
RB laser technology enables the use of higher gain screens helping theater operators to make energy savings. - Metal casing
Supports robust long-life performance and is 100% recyclable.
ePaper Displays
A groundbreaking advance in energy-efficient signage technology, the ePaper Display consumes a remarkable zero Watts when presenting content. Taking only minimal power draw when content changes, Sharp innovation in ePaper signage is making a significant step forward toward the carbon-neutral era.
The ultra-light weight ePaper Display can be hung like a picture frame or free standing in any orientation requiring no mounting infrastructure. Capable of being powered by battery with no need for a power cable, it demands little in the way of installation and even less during operation making it the most sustainable alternative to traditional printed signage.
Sustainable features include
